सियोल: South Korea, Japan और United States ने आज, 28 अगस्त 2026 को अपनी trilateral military exercise ‘Freedom Edge’ के अगले edition की घोषणा की है। South Korea के Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) के मुताबिक यह multi-domain exercise 7 से 11 सितंबर 2026 के बीच Jeju Island के east और south में international waters में आयोजित की जाएगी। तीनों देशों का कहना है कि exercise का उद्देश्य North Korea के बढ़ते nuclear और missile threats के खिलाफ military readiness और coordination मजबूत करना है। South Korean military ने drill को annual और defensive exercise बताया है। इस दौरान तीनों देशों की maritime और aviation capabilities के साथ air defence, missile-threat response, surveillance और दूसरे coordinated military operations पर focus रहने की उम्मीद है। 7 से 11 September तक चलेगी Freedom Edge South Korea के Joint Chiefs of Staff ने शुक्रवार को media को बताया कि 2026 Freedom Edge exercise 7 September से 11 September तक आयोजित की जाएगी। Exercise का location South Korea के southern Jeju Island के east और south में international waters होगा। JCS के मुताबिक: “Freedom Edge” तीनों देशों की नियमित defensive multi-domain exercise है, जिसका उद्देश्य North Korea के nuclear और missile threats का मुकाबला करना और regional peace तथा stability को सुरक्षित रखना है। इसलिए इसे सीधे “North Korea पर हमला करने की तैयारी” कहना सही नहीं होगा। तीनों participating countries इसे officially defensive preparedness exercise के रूप में describe कर रही हैं। इस बार Exercise में क्या नया होगा? इस साल Freedom Edge में South Korea, Japan और US के बीच military coordination को और बढ़ाने की योजना है। U.S. side से जारी readout के मुताबिक exercise में real-time information sharing और synchronized coordination को मजबूत किया जाएगा ताकि तीनों forces evolving regional threats के खिलाफ तेजी से एक साथ respond कर सकें। Exercise में: जैसी activities शामिल की जाएंगी। इसका मतलब exercise केवल naval drill तक सीमित नहीं रहेगी, बल्कि कई military domains को एक साथ integrate किया जाएगा। North Korea के Nuclear और Missile Program पर Focus Freedom Edge का एक प्रमुख उद्देश्य North Korea के तेजी से बढ़ते nuclear और ballistic missile capabilities के खिलाफ preparedness बढ़ाना है। Pyongyang पिछले कई वर्षों में लगातार अपने nuclear arsenal और missile programs को expand कर रहा है। South Korea, Japan और United States इसे Korean Peninsula और wider Indo-Pacific security के लिए गंभीर threat मानते हैं। तीनों देशों का कहना है कि ऐसे threats के जवाब में उनके बीच missile detection, tracking, air defence और military information-sharing coordination बेहद जरूरी है। North Korea पहले भी Freedom Edge का विरोध कर चुका है North Korea ने पहले के Freedom Edge exercises की कड़ी आलोचना की है। Pyongyang इसे तीनों देशों की confrontational military policy और अपने खिलाफ military pressure बढ़ाने की कोशिश के रूप में देखता है। Associated Press के मुताबिक North Korea ने पहले Freedom Edge को एक reckless show of strength बताते हुए दावा किया था कि इसका उद्देश्य सिर्फ North Korea पर दबाव बनाना नहीं, बल्कि China और Russia को भी strategic pressure में रखना है। South Korea, Japan और US इन आरोपों को reject करते हुए exercises को defensive बताते रहे हैं। Trump ने दूसरी US-South Korea Drill छोटी कराई थी आज Freedom Edge की घोषणा ऐसे समय हुई है जब Washington ने हाल ही में South Korea के साथ अलग Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise को substantially scale down किया था। Yonhap के मुताबिक पिछले सप्ताह South Korea-US bilateral Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) exercise को करीब आधा किया गया था। Associated Press के मुताबिक exercise को originally planned schedule से छह दिन पहले खत्म कर दिया गया था। U.S. President Donald Trump ने Pentagon को exercise कम करने का निर्देश दिया था। Trump ने कहा था कि बड़ी military exercises North Korea को गलत या hostile signal दे सकती हैं, जबकि वह North Korean leader Kim Jong Un के साथ दोबारा diplomatic talks शुरू करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। फिर Freedom Edge क्यों जारी रखी गई? Ulchi Freedom Shield को छोटा किए जाने के बाद सवाल उठ रहा था कि क्या Washington South Korea और Japan के साथ Freedom Edge को भी reduce या postpone करेगा। लेकिन South Korean JCS की आज की announcement से यह साफ हो गया है कि trilateral Freedom Edge exercise planned तरीके से आगे बढ़ेगी। South Korean military के एक official ने Yonhap को बताया कि इस year’s exercise का scale और scope roughly previous editions के बराबर रहेगा। इससे संकेत मिलता है कि Washington एक तरफ North Korea के साथ diplomatic opening की कोशिश कर रहा है, लेकिन दूसरी ओर Japan और South Korea के साथ trilateral military readiness भी बनाए रखना चाहता है। North Korea ने हाल में Missiles भी Launch कीं Military tensions पहले से बढ़ी हुई हैं। Associated Press के मुताबिक North Korea ने Trump की diplomatic overture को पर्याप्त नहीं बताते हुए हाल में करीब 10 short-range ballistic missiles समुद्र की ओर launch किए थे। Pyongyang का कहना है कि सिर्फ military drills को छोटा करना पर्याप्त नहीं है और United States को अपनी broader policy बदलनी होगी। North Korea ने यह भी कहा है कि वह Washington के साथ diplomacy तभी आगे बढ़ाना चाहेगा जब US denuclearization को talks की precondition बनाने की अपनी position छोड़े। US Arms Sale पर भी North Korea नाराज Thursday को North Korean Foreign Ministry ने United States की कुछ recent actions की भी आलोचना की थी। AP के मुताबिक इनमें South Korea को air-to-air missiles और related military equipment की संभावित sale भी शामिल थी। North Korea ने warning दी कि वह ऐसी activities के जवाब में serious और powerful response देगा। इसी diplomatic और military tension के बीच अगले महीने Freedom Edge exercise आयोजित होने जा रही है। Freedom Edge क्या है?
